Inter Goes to Hollywood!

For anyone that doesn’t know my team, Inter Milan, are in the USA doing a crazy promo tour with Milan, Chelsea & Club America. Last night was the biggest night so far, Inter v Chelsea, were former Milan manager Carlo Ancelotti would lead out the Chelsea that Jose Mourinho used to manage. The stars turned out for the match including Charlize Theron, Ashton Kutcher and Will Ferrell, who all showed their support for Chelsea. Chelsea can have them, we got Alyssa Milano - who was looking awesome in Inters new home & training shirts!

I found this blogger, Dustin Curtis, yesterday on a click-thru-tangent from Lifehacker. I was reading the research on Sleep Hacking when I noticed he was a designer and from there I started reading his other blogs.

One story in particular jumped out. It seems Dustin does a lot of travelling and while trying to book flights he became so frustrated with American Airlines site that he wrote them a letter explaining his frustration and offering them a redesign! Being a designer myself there are a number of times I visit a site and feel I could’ve done better but I’d never have thought to actually write to the company and offer to do it better!

There’s a buzz about the place!

I don’t normally take much to do with the Old Firm - being from Scotland it’s always best stay neutral - but I just saw the new ad campaign for Celtic’s new away shirt and was quite impressed.

As seems to be the trend this year Celtic (or rather, Nike) have went retro and are revamping an old Celtic away shirt known as the “bumblebee“. It’s basically black and luminous yellow hoops and is one of those shirts you either loved or loathed (like Inter’s Crusader shirt).

The awesomeness of the ad does not come from the shirt itself or the design (which I think is pretty mediocre by Nike’s standard) but the tagline “There’s a buzz about the place.” For those that don’t know this was a much lampooned catchphrase of former Celtic player, Paul McStay. Combining these 2 elements is a stroke of genius that will truly appeal to Celtic’s fans, especially in the period of nostalgia that we seem to be in.

Shirt design is something I’d love to get in to. My dream would be to design an Inter shirt - I’d go retro too and base the away kit on my favourite Inter kit from 89.

Get ready for the Eruption!!!

I’ve secured myself a Peavey EVH Wolfgang (assuming payment & shipping all get sorted!) from the States this week.

Super sweet axe, it’s a 96/97 model - quite rare but still cheaper than when they came out. It’s the same as the one on the cover art for Van Halen’s Best Of album, I tried one in 98 and fell in love but couldn’t afford one, after that I’ve rarely seen them. This was too good to pass up.

I’m off to dig out all my guitar gear and get playing Human’s Being and the like!

If you thought those traffic cop shows in the UK are just Police propaganda reels designed to keep the poople-heads in line then perhaps we could reformat the show like our good friends in Italy have.

Rather than pick on the ordinary punter they have chosen the overpaid flash car driving superstars of Serie A! They setup camera’s and speed traps outside the training facilities of the big clubs (AC Milan, Inter, Juve, Roma) and snapped the players speeding away from training.
